The process

Eight steps from idea to installed product

Product Definition

Set the vision, goals and scope of the project, and establish realistic timetables.

Feasibility Study

Evaluate technology and market alternatives; develop a detailed design programme; set schedules, allocate resources and approve a budget.

Hardware & Software Development

Determine functional specifications, then the appropriate technologies; monitor progress with regularly scheduled reviews.

Prototype Manufacture

Build a custom prototype to assure quality and full functionality; gather field feedback and refine the product or process as necessary.

Documentation

Drawings, source listings, PCB design documentation, parts lists, schematics, test procedures, installation procedures and user manuals.

Preliminary Production

Begin low-volume manufacturing (typically ~100 units) to establish product flow and finalise assembly and testing before mass production.

High-Volume Production

Working to budget, drive outside manufacturers through this critical phase — parts buying and substitution, QC and production.

Technical Support

Ongoing support through regulatory processes, production testing, quality control and cost reduction — the foundation of long-term business relationships.
